The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalaya Mountains along the disputed India-Pakistan border.
It is the longest glacier in the Karakoram and second longest in the world's non-polar areas.
The Siachen Glacier lies south of the great watershed that separates China from the Indian subcontinent in the extensively glaciated portion of the Karakoram that is sometimes called the "Third Pole."
The average winter snowfall is 10.5 m (35 ft) and temperatures can dip to -50 degrees Celsius (-58 degrees Fahrenheit). Including all tributary glaciers, the Siachen Glacier system covers approximately 700 square kilometers.
Miranjani is the highest peak of Abbottabad District in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan and is a big attraction for hikers. It is situated near Nathia Gali, about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of Islamabad in the Himalayan ranges. From Nathia Gali it takes three hours to reach the peak. It is an easy walk and the top offers a spectacular view.
From the top of Mera Jani the following places can easily be seen Azad Kashmir, Jhelum River (Kohala), Tarbela lake, Abbottabad city, Havelian, and Thandiani. On a clear day, the treacherous mountain Nanga Parbat can be seen 400 km away.
The Changa Manga forest is a planted forest in Pakistan. It is located in Chunian is about 70 km south of Lahore. It covers an area of 50 km² (12,510 acres) and is one of the largest of its kind. The planting and irrigation of it took place in the 19th century in the era of the British Raj due to the need for timber for the Indian railway network.
Parts of the forests have now been developed into a park with a rail road which gives the visitor a 25 km ride on a miniature train through the forest. There is also a lake called Lunar Lake where boating is possible.
The Changa Manga forest is a hot spot concerning wildlife in Punjab. Wildlife within the borders of the plantation include a small remaining population of Nilgai or Blue Bull, hog deer, wild boar and possibly axis deer. Jackal and Asiatic wild cat can be found in Changa Manga, too.
Changa Manga plantation is also an important place for restocking projects of Asiatic vultures in Pakistan.
The forest park has good recreational facilities and a good quality hotel. There are good road links with Lahore, the biggest city in the province of Punjab.
Dudiptsar lake or Dudipat Lake is a beautiful lake encircled by snow clad peaks. The lake lies in the extreme north of Kaghan Valley and is about 4 hours drive from Naran. The road is not entirely accessible for cars, even Jeeps. From Besal onwards the visitors have to trek about 6-8 hours in vast alpine meadows to reach the lake.
Its water is a beautiful greenish blue and very cold too. Dudipatsar is also close to another major Lake Lulusar which is the main contributory to the Kunhar river that runs through Kaghan valley. At a distance from the lake lies the Babusar Top or the Babusar Pass which is the end of 150 km long Kaghan valley.
Shangrila Lake or Lower Kachura Lake is a part of the Shangrila resort located at a drive of about 20 minutes from Skardu (nearly 2,500 m or 8,200 feet) town.
It is a popular tourist destination, and has a unique restaurant that is built on the fuselage of an aircraft that had crashed nearby.
Shangrila was established in 1983 with the opening of the first Resort Hotel in Skardu, Baltistan. It was named "heaven on earth" because of its spectacular beauty,and breathtaking view and peaceful atmosphere.
Banjusa is a man-made lake situated in the village Banjusa - Rawalakot. The lake at Banjusa is simply great. It is a neat and clean place with lush grass surrounded by Trees. The road that leads to this place is also quite remarkable.
This is a three hours safe hill trek to Mukshpuri Top and is the second highest Hill of Galyat at 9452 feet/3150 metres above sea level approx. This trek starts from the Pines Hotel in Nathigali spiralling upwards through the beautiful green Pine Forest displaying natural beauty. Hikers on their way to Mushkpuri top are presented with colourful fairy fragmented carpet of flowers in the green Meadwos of Mushkpuri.
